I had no idea. I'm quite ...Corporal punishment? I had no idea. I'm quite aware of the debate over capital punishment, having gathered a 2008 collection titled <i>Great Canadian Speeches</i>. As you are no doubt aware, or might assume, Pierre Trudeau was a great opponent. On 15 June 1976 he delivered one of the most remarkable speeches in the House of Commons.<br /><br />Two things that have always struck me about that piece of oratory:<br /><br />1) Trudeau wrote the speech himself, crafting it over several nights.<br /><br />2) As far as I've been able to determine, that same speech is the last to have been printed in its entirety by the press.<br /><br />On a side note - which, given the topic, seems quite trivial - is not the similarity of this Stoval-Advocate and the Harlequins of the time remarkable?Brian Busbyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04120341319506205062noreply@blogger.com
