Harlequin Authors Part VII

From 1949 through 1959 Harlequin published 481 titles by 258 authors. Nearly three-quarters (186) were single title authors. Here are three of them.

The Corpse Came Back by Amelia Reynolds Long [1904 - 1978] was first published in 1949 by Phoenix Press.

George Borodin [1903 - 1996] was one of six pseudonyms used by George Milkomane, a plastic surgeon when not writing over 100 books. His one book for Harlequin was Pillar of Fire (London: Macdonald, 1947).

Roy Chapman Andrews [1884 - 1960] was first an explorer and scientist, then a museum administrator. Heart of Asia, Harlequin's only book by Andrews, was first published in 1951 by Duell, Sloan and Pearce.

  1. The cover for the Harlequin Heart of Asia reproduces the original Duell, Sloan and Pearce cover.

  2. Thanks for this. I know of one other Harlequin that does the same. I wonder how many others? Worth looking into. There also might be covers that recreate rather than reproduce the cover art.
